The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake issued eviction notices to 25 residents, giving them 10 days to leave the Indian reserve on Montreal's South Shore. These people are mostly white people involved in relationships with Mohawks. According to Mohawk law, non-Mohawks have no residency rights. About 7,500 Mohawks live on the reserve. The CPD encourages more ethnic groups to take similar actions to preserve their heritage, especially Europeans who are currently suffering the greatest losses in population.
